Fruitways is a leading agri-business in South Africa. We specialise in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe.

ASSISTANT PRODUCTION MANAGER

Fruitways Farming has an opportunity for an experienced Assistant Production Manager to take responsibility of a fruit production unit in the Grabouw area. Reporting to the Production Manager at Glen Elgin, this position will take the lead in achieving the production unit’s targets by applying horticultural and management best practise.

Responsibilities:

Co-ordinating the activities of the various production functions to ensure that the operation runs efficiently and effectively
Delegate tasks, coach & support production supervisors and ensure motivated teams work toward achieving set targets
Be able and willing to handle basic disciplinary actions when needed.
Identify training needs for production supervisors
Measure and monitor productivity and quality and propose solutions to facilitate continuous improvement

Requirements:

Degree or Diploma in Agriculture/Horticulture and/or similar technical or managerial qualification
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role preferred.
Apple and/or Pear farming experience is not a necessity but will be beneficial
Excellent verbal communication skills
Time management skills
Good organizational and delegation skills
Strong attention to detail
Valid Driver’s Licence
