INTERN: JUICE PLANT

We have an exciting internship opportunity available for a motivated and detail-oriented graduate to join our Juice Plant team at the Molteno Packhouse in Grabouw. Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will gain hands-on exposure to apple and pear juice manufacturing processes for the fresh juice and apple cider vinegar industries.

Responsibilities:

Quality control of incoming raw materials, ingredients & packaging according to respective specifications
Monitor the juice manufacturing process hazards and critical control points
Oversee the the quality control of final products and issuing of CoAs in accordance with final product/customer specifications
Conduct daily/weekly/monthly environmental/HACCP activity and food safety checks
Record keeping for QC reports of all manufactured batches
Lead the maintenance/upkeep of the existing food safety standard accreditation as well as external/independent audits
Liaison with customers on product quality related matters
Conduct ad hoc continuous improvement trials on product and manufacturing processes

Requirements:

National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology or a related science field
Strong interest in food chemistry and food microbiology
Good attention to detail
Exposure to a fruit processing or packing environment will be advantageous
Intermediate computer literacy (MS Office, particularly Excel)
An energetic and enthusiastic individual with a genuine passion for the fruit and production industry
Proactive, curious, and eager to learn, with strong communication skills and a hands-on approach
