Fruitways is a leading agri-business in South Africa. We specialise in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe.
QA SUPERVISOR – FINAL INSPECTION |
We are looking for a detail-oriented, independent individual who takes pride in delivering high-quality work within a dynamic team environment. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, you will be based at the Melpack packing operation in the Vyeboom area, overseeing final product inspection and ensuring compliance with market specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the fruit quality processes related to final inspection and packing standards.
- Collect, interpret, and report fruit quality deviations in terms of specifications, marking, and labeling requirements.
- Monitor quality standards throughout the production, and final inspection processes.
- Ensure that fruit packed meets customer and market specifications.
- Communicate the status of pallets, special market requirements, and labelling compliance to relevant personnel.
- Conduct inspections of aged stock in cold storage and ensure sampling and inspection processes for special markets are followed.
- Oversee compliance with quality and food safety standards.
- Monitor and maintain chlorine concentration levels at the presorter and pack line flumes.
- Supervise and train a team of quality control personnel, ensuring adherence to safety and quality procedures.
- Ensure that all online, final inspection, and rebin data are accurately recorded in the Vitrax system
- Assist in overseeing the pest management programme.
- Responsible for the status changes of pallet.
Requirements:
- Diploma or similar qualification in Food Science or Agriculture advantageous
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in a post-harvest fruit handling or fruit production environment
- Intermediate understanding of apple and pear fruit quality will be beneficial
- Basic understanding of Food quality & safety, health and safety regulations
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft office package, including Excel skills
- Basic understanding of Vitrax, will be beneficial
